Code of Conduct

Through our contacts in the surrounding world, we build confidence in the bank and in the financial system. Few things are more influential than the impression we give you in your personal contacts with the bank.
Swedbank has a Code of Conduct consisting of guidelines that our employees must adhere to but they also have to meet expectations as regards personal judgment and responsibility.
Swedbank's overall aim is to promote sound and sustainable economic growth for the many households and businesses. We do this through three basic values: simple, open and caring.

Governance and responsibility

The bank's governance model is built on clear role descriptions enabling decentralisation and delegation of authority and responsibility. The aim is for a significant number of decisions to be made as close as possible to the business and our customers.

The governance model sets out clear goals and strategies, policies and guidelines stating how the bank works in different situations as well as an effective operational structure. The bank is organised into six business areas, which is a mix of geographical areas of activity and market areas. Each business area head continuously reports to the CEO and is responsible for the implementation of strategies and business plans as well as having the operational responsibility within those frameworks. In addition, there are seven group functions spanning the business areas which ensure that effective and common standards and routines are maintained within the various areas of responsibility.
