UN Global Compact

Swedbank has signed the UN Global Compact, an initiative launched to promote socially and environmentally responsible enterprise worldwide. It contains ten principles concerning human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.

UN Environmental Program for the Financial Sector (UNEP FI)

The Swedbank Group also supports the United Nations Environmental Program for the financial sector, a global partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme and the financial sector.

Swedbank Robur has signed "The Principles for Responsible Investment" (PRI), UN:s global guidelines for responsible asset management.

European Savings Banks Group & World Savings Banks Institute

Swedbank is cooperating with other savings banks in Europe and elsewhere in the world through membership in the European Savings Banks Group (ESBG) and the World Savings Banks Institute (WSBI). Both organisations are engaged in a variety of social projects in Europe and the rest of the world.

Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Swedbank also supports the international Carbon Disclosure Project, whose objective is to induce the largest corporations in the world to limit emissions of greenhouse gases.

ISO 14001

In 2003, Swedbank became the first publicly traded bank in the Nordic countries to have its Swedish operations environmentally certified according to the international environmental standard, ISO 14001.

Swedbank supports the International Chamber of Commerce Business Charter for Sustainable Development, which consists of sixteen principles for environmental management.

ECPAT

In May 2009 Swedbank started a cooperation with ECPAT in Sweden. The cooperation involves e.g. that Swedbank will contribute to raise the issue of trafficking of children. Swedbank also collaborates with the Swedish police and the other large Swedish banks to stop the sale of child pornography over the Internet.

FTSE4Good

Swedbank's operations are regularly analysed by SRI analysts so that Swedbank share can be recommended as a socially responsible investment (SRI). The bank is included on indexes including the FTSE4Good.

Dow Jones Sustainability Index

Dow Jones Sustanability Index measures listed companies performance based on economic, environmental and social aspects. The bank received a total company score of 68 out of 100 in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2010.
