Swedbank in Lithuania receives the Socially Responsible Company 2008 award
During the National Responsible Business Awards organised in Lithuania for the second time Swedbank received the main award – the organisation was recognised as Socially Responsible Company of 2008 in all spheres of social responsibility.
The National Responsible Business Awards are granted to the most advanced companies which create great working conditions, contribute to the development of the social welfare and reduction of negative environmental impact. The main nomination of the Award – Socially Responsible Company 2008 – was granted to Swedbank in the category of foreign capital companies operating in Lithuania.
The winners received awards according to three nominations: “Workplace of the Year”, “Most Community-friendly Company of the Year” and “Most Environmental Company of the Year” and the main award – Socially Responsible Company 2008.
Managers of socially responsible companies are shaping a new outlook among society members towards business, marketing and management and while developing a socially responsible attitude to employees are trying to create favourable working environment.
The National Responsible Business Awards were introduced by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Lithuania in concert with the Ministries of Economy and Environment. This is the first and the only initiative of such type supported by public authorities in Lithuania.
This year 22 companies operating in Lithuania participated in this competition. Total number of applications received for the competition amounted to 50.
