The Board of Swedbank has decided to cancel variable remuneration for 2009. This decision was made due to the fact that 2009 was an exceptional year both for Swedbank and for the financial services industry as a whole. It is still the Board’s and the management’s conviction that a combination of a fixed and variable wage creates the best value for customers and shareholders in the long term. Read more

A historically turbulent year – the bank strengthened through active measures

Today Swedbank announces its Year-end report for 2009; a year that will be remembered as one of the most turbulent years in the bank’s history. The financial crisis in the Baltic countries, Ukraine and Russia caused large provisions and a loss of SEK 10.5bn. The measures we implemented during the year mean that the Swedbank is well prepared to take care of our customers.
