Swedbank added to Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2020
Swedbank has qualified for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2020, one of the world’s most influential sustainability indices. Each year the index ranks the world’s most sustainable companies, and being selected is proof of Swedbank’s consistent and effective sustainability work in terms of the environment, economy and social criteria.
The ranking is based on questions on corporate governance, risk management, brand building, human rights, climate change and labour practices.
“With our sights set on an economically sound and sustainable society, we are very happy and proud to be selected for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. Sustainability is a key part of our 200-year history, and we will continue to facilitate the transition for people and companies in a collective effort to create a better future. Sustainable development is also sustainably profitable,” says Jens Henriksson, CEO of Swedbank.

Swedbank has received a number of awards for gender equality and sustainability work in 2019 and 2020, e.g. its inclusion in Bloomberg’s Gender Equality Index, a third-place finish among Swedish public companies in Equileap’s gender equality ranking, and Swedbank Robur’s top score among European asset managers in Hirschel & Kramers’ (H&K) Responsible Investment Brand Index. Swedbank Latvia reached its highest score and for the third consecutive year maintained a platinum ranking in an annual sustainability index in Latvia. Swedbank was also recognized as the most sustainable company in the financial industry in Lithuania.
