Swedbank advisor as Nasdaq launches green equity designations
Swedbank has been a pioneer within green equity. When we first presented a green equity case one year ago, this was something completely new. Nasdaq has now, with Swedbank as advisor, presented a green equity designation and a green equity transition designation, meaning there will be a standard for green equity in the Nordic markets.
‘’This is one further step in the transformation to a greener and more sustainable society. It’s good for our business and shareholders and it’s also good for society,’’ says Jens Henriksson, CEO of Swedbank.
In May 2020, property company K2A became the first to label its shares as green, with Swedbank as sole structuring advisor. Since then, Swedbank has also advised Platzer, Wästbygg and Magnolia Bostad on green equity.
Green equity is a good way to increase the transparency of a company’s green profile. This becomes increasingly important for investors as they are faced with increased disclosure requirements related to climate. Accordingly, green equity increases a company’s attractiveness in financial markets.
‘’We continue to work with green labelling of shares and there’s a lot of interest among our corporate customers for this as they see it as a good way to meet investors’ demands,’’ Jens Henriksson says.
