Health, work environment and sustainable employees
We believe that sustainable employees are essential both for employee engagement and a better customer experience. Healthy employees do better business, and a good working environment is an important part of being an attractive employer and a profitable company.
To attain this, Swedbank encourages a good work-life balance, and an open and inclusive working climate. We thus aim to create a working environment where everybody consciously manages health risks and where all employees are offered the right conditions to maintain or improve their physical, mental and social well-being.
Sustainable work environment
At Swedbank we define it as organisational, physical and social wellbeing at work, every day. This means a workplace where our employees have the right prerequisites to feel good at work and perform at their best, there’s room for variety and flexibility during the workday and where inclusion, development and team spirit are natural parts of our business. We treat each other with respect, and there is zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment or bullying.
Sustainable employees
Sustainable employees for us mean that our employees feel that they can handle their work situation, they have a work-life balance that suits them, and the working climate is supportive, respectful and inclusive, every day at work. In addition, it means that the employees’ working days enable movement and variation.
We have Group-wide work environment goals
- Sustainable Employee Index (target >80)
- Zero tolerance against discrimination, harassment and victimisation
- Sickness ratios
By working to improve and ensure successful working conditions and an inclusive working climate, and preventing any kind of discrimination, victimisation or harassment, we believe that we can lower the parts of the sickness ratios that are linked to poor work-related health.
At Swedbank, the managers’ responsibility is to work systematically to support and promote work-related health and wellbeing among our employees.
- Quarterly discussion in management teams with predefined Sustainable Employee agenda.
- Continuous dialogue within team meetings and 1-1 talks.
- The Group-wide work environment goals and systematic work are followed up on a quarterly basis in the bank’s Central Work Environment Committee. Each business area is accountable for its work environment risks as well as mitigation measures and action plans.
- There is also a clear monitoring of employees on long-term sick leave, through e.g. individual rehabilitation plans and adaptation of work situation.
- In collaboration with our external occupational healthcare partners in our home markets, we work actively with prevention, interventions and rehabilitation, both on individual, Group and organisational level.
